Present Perfect Tense


 

The Definition of Present Perfect Tense :

1.       Present perfect tense is a kind of tense that is used to describe an action or an event that took place at an indefinite time or over a period of time in the past, but still has relevance in the present. The present perfect is a construction made up of the auxiliary have + the past participle form of the main verb.


● The pattern : Verbal sentences (+) = S + have / has + V3 + O/C
                                                             ( -) = S + have/has + not + V3
                                                             ( ?) = Have/has + S + V3

                             Nominal sentences = S + have/has + been + C
● Adverb of Time : Already, Never/ever, Just, Since, Once/Twice, So far

● The examples :1. (+)  They have been here since morning
                                      (-)  They have not been here since morning
                                      (?)  Have they been here since morning ?

                                            Yes, they have
                                            No, they have not

2.(+)  He has borrowed your Japanese dictionary
    (-)  He has not borrowed your Japanese dictionary
    (?)   Has he borrowed your Japanese dictionary ?

          Yes, he has
          No, he has not
